Report: Justin Bour To Play With Hanshin Tigers In Japan

Justin Bour has reached an agreement with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league, Tigers GM Osamu Tanimoto told the Japan Times on Thursday.

The Angels signed the 31-year-old Bour to a one-year, $2.5 million contract for the 2019 season, but he struggled with Los Angeles, batting .172/.259/.364 with eight home runs across 52 games.

The Houston Astros have agreed upon a one-year, $8.3 million deal with Yuli Gurriel.

The agreement gives him a $300,000 raise from his scheduled salary for 2020.

Gurriel set career highs in home runs (31) and RBIs (104) this past season.

The 35-year-old agreed to a five-year, $47.5 million deal in July 2016 when he defected from Cuba. That deal called for an $8 million salary this coming season.

Jake Odorizzi accepted the Minnesota Twins' $17.8 million qualifying offer for a one-year contact and put himself in position to become a free agent again after the 2020 season.

"When it came down to it, the decision came down to me pretty much betting on myself and returning to a place I know very well and enjoyed and continue to improve on what I did last year and then re-entering the market next offseason with a different class," Odorizzi said Friday, a day after accepting the offer just before the deadline.
